Do the 24-hour shifts cross midnight correctly?

Yes. Each shift starts at 8am and ends at 8am the next day. The generated events span the full 24 hours, so the overnight is on the calendar, not a gap.

What timezone are the shift times in?

The published example renders in US Eastern. The on/off day pattern is what matters; edit the start time in the prompt to your department's shift-change time before generating your own.
